Though the literature on intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors and service providers is expanding, it often lacks theoretical grounding, presenting mainly descriptive accounts, and disproportionately emphasizing the individual help-seeking behavior of survivors. By shifting our focus to service systems and organizations, we seek to deepen our understanding, incorporating the concept of these providers' trustworthiness in supporting survivors. A provider's trustworthiness is demonstrably evident in their benevolence (available and caring locally), fairness (inclusive and non-discriminatory), and competence (effective and acceptable in meeting survivors' needs). In light of this conceptual framework, we undertook a comprehensive review of the literature, leveraging four databases: PsycINFO, PubMed, Web of Science, and Westlaw. Our research encompassed studies published between January 2005 and March 2022, enabling us to evaluate the credibility of community-based providers aiding adult IPV survivors in the United States. These providers encompass services like domestic violence resources, healthcare and mental healthcare, the legal system, and financial aid (N=114). The investigation unearthed that many survivors reside in areas lacking shelter beds, mental health services, and affordable housing. Researchers, advocates, and providers are requested to delve into the issue of provider trustworthiness, and we offer a preliminary approach for quantifying it.
