Forty four genes were selected through the procedure described above and 2 other genes were selected from previous studies [44, 45]. Twelve genes were selected from the SSH-C (11 unigenes) and SSH-NC (1 unigene) libraries in order to examine whether Wolbachia induce an immune activation as observed in a challenged condition. All the 46 selected immune genes can be placed in known crustacean immune pathways (Figure 3).
